The anatomical study of the tubes of the Jenus ophopogon and Liriopes in Korea

Abstract
In this study, it was investigated the anatomical comparison of the tubers of the Ophiopogon and Liriopes, which naturally occurred in Korea, on the purpose of identifying their characteristic natures.
The results are following;
1. In ophiopogon, the inner sides of endodermis and pericycle are thicked as U-shape. (Fig. 1,2)
2. L. spicata is not the same kind with L. koreana which is considered hitherto as same plant.
3. The radial vascular bundle of O. jaburan is the most polyarch(22-23) among the collected plants. (Fig. 2)
4. Oils are found only in these two plants, L. platyphylla and 0. japonicus. (Fig. 1,3)
5. L. platyphylla Wang et Tang is the best as pharmaceutical herb, because it has many tubers, as compared with the other plants.
